POLITEKNIK MANUFAKTUR BANDUNG (POLMAN-Bandung) previously called Politeknik Mekanik Swiss-ITB (PMS-ITB) established 1976 is the result of bilateral cooperation between the governments of Republic of Indonesia and the Swiss Confederation. In Order to implement the cooperation, Indonesia was represented by Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) and Swisscontact represented Switzerland. The last Swiss expert left in 1995 as the bilateral cooperation was vacing out.
This is the first established polytechnic in Indonesia, and the Minister of Education and Culture, Dr. Sjarif Thajeb inaugurated it, in 24 March 1977. Although, the first batch of student entrance PMS-ITB was in the year 1976.
The further development of the school was assisted by loans from Asian Development Bank (Production cum Training Unit, TPSDP), World Bank (Foundry Engineering Dept.), DIP (DUE-Like), Indonesia German Institute (IGI Center).
Since September 2002 POLMAN-Bandung increase the student number by 24 students of Manufacturing Engineering Department and 24 students of Automation and Mechatronics Engineering Department in cooperation with the Pusat Pelatihan Kerja Industri Jasa dan Manufaktur (Puslatker IJM).
In 2002 POLMAN-Bandung was selected as one of the IGI Centers, while assiting three 'sisters',i.e.: Puslatker - IJM, STT TExtil and SMKN-6. The objective of this program is to upgrade the competence and productivity of small-scale industry.
POLMAN-Bandung was selectd A for the whole program study by the BAdan Akreditasi National (BAN the National Accreditation Body). And after year preparation work, finally POLMAN-Bandung is awarded ISO certificate by KEMA.
In Cooperation with the foundation of small-scale foundry industry in Ceper-Klaten, a new polytechnic mainly in the field of foundry engineering technology founded in Ceper on September 2003.

Dalam masyarakat saat ini dan ke depan, pendidikan yang holistik yang melihat peserta didik sebagai satu kesatuan yang utuh yang bukan hanya melihat dari aspek pengetahuan tetapi juga aspek moral dan jasmani diyakini akan menjadi penggerak utama pertumbuhan ekonomi dan kesejahteraan masyarakat. Kesejahteraan yang dihasilkan adalah kesejahteraan yang saling mensejahterakan karena berangkat dari nilai-nilai keadilan yang mengeliminasi kesenjangan dan menghasilkan harmoni dalam kehidupan berbangsa dan bernegara.
